The Mysterious Satanic Leaf Tailed Gecko

The Satanic Leaf Tailed Gecko is a mysterious creature. These kinds of creatures are generally found in Madagascar Island. The generic name of this creature is Uroplatus which is taken from two Latin words “oura” meaning “tail” and “platys” meaning “flat”. This species was first discovered by George Albert Boulenger in 1888. It is very small in size. Its full size with tail is about 2.6 to 6 inches. The leaf like structure is generally seen in ebenaui complex. It has spines on head, body and trunk.

This species can change their color according to the circumstances. Even they can change their color during the sexual time. Their color helps them to remain in disguise. This kind of creature has no eyelid but a transparent cover over their eyes. So they use long, mobile tongues to remove the dust from their eyes. The Satanic Leaf Tailed Gecko normally remains in the rainy forest. This kind of creature comes out at night to feed insects. Their scales and long curved claws help them to travel through the forest. This creature is the expert to avoid the predators. To make the predators frightens they cast their body shadow and often open the claws to make them frighten. This species lays eggs and their reproduction starts during the starting of the rainy season. But the most astonishing fact is that this species is at the brink of extinction. Deforestation and black trading is the main cause of extinction of this creature. The World Wide Fund for Nature recently lists the creature under”the top ten wanted species”. An initiative has also been taken to protect this “Satanic Leaf Tailed Gecko”.source:BACKWATER REPTILES
