One day will come when people will run with screaming from office, shopping mall, market places, watching the plants in color white. Recently prof. June Medford has invented a new technology that will help of detecting explosive and other chemical elements in the environment.
If someone passes by the side of those trees with hidden bomb in his apron, the plants will give a security alert by changing its color in white.

If someone passes by the side of those trees with hidden bomb in his apron, the plants will give a security alert by changing its color in white.
Mrs. Medford, is a scientist of Colorado State University, has discovered a way to put the plants in the line of defense. Prof. June and other scientists of Colorado State University are working with the defense department of USA and Homeland security. They are now trying to upgrade the plants for the future use in airport and other important public areas.
"We actually modify the seed, “and” then it's a trait that is stable and stays with it forever. It's very empowering because it will tell you that there's an explosive around: 'get the security guys here” -Medford told in news.
The idea of creating such explosive detecting trees came in Medford from a very reasonable scientific incident. She told that bananas in Northern climate never ripe until the bananas are exposed to the Ethylene gas. Then she started thinking at which point it changes it color.
Like all living creature plants too have their own protecting power.
Medford described that plants are unable to run and hide from threat and she also told - "They have to have a way to detect and respond and they do that already. But they detect bugs and things like that. What we've done is teach them a new trick ... to detect things we care about."
Medford explained that these greens are able to detect not only explosive but pollutant element, Radon gas, Carbon monoxide also. Medford confirmed that these greens can be very handy of detecting improvised explosive devices in the countries like Iraq and Afghanistan.
“When you have a system where the bad guys don't even know that there's a detector there, I think it's very, very powerful," as well as "It can tell our security guys, the police, where to come and where to look" Medford told in news.
"It works right now, but it'll work in hours; we need to cut it down to minutes and seconds. And we think that's very doable -- and indeed we're getting some very good data to support that" Mrs. June told this while talking about the time it will take.
Medford told that these greens are creating in such a technique which the dogs have. She told that these plants are as sensible as dog’s nose."I've talked to the world's leading people who work with dogs,” Medford commented, "and it's really hard to get good data on dogs. Dogs are very, very good sometimes, and then dogs get distracted. My plants don't get distracted."
If the offensive element is taken away from its surroundings, these greens will get back its original color and these plants can be used again and again. She also assured that within few years plant will be launched in the market.
